Agoda — Map UX
Agoda assigned us to research, analyse and brainstorm new map concepts and interactions for their booking website. We led the discovery and concept phase — user research, journey mapping, and interaction prototypes — handing off a tested system for their internal UI team to ship.
Map search was the highest-intent surface on the site and the least understood. Travellers switched between list and map constantly, losing filters and context each time.

The approach
Discovery
Interviewed travellers across three markets and analysed session recordings to find where map-to-list handoffs broke down.
Concept sprints
Produced competing interaction models for clustering, price display, filtering and drag-to-search, then pressure-tested each in moderated sessions.
Handoff system
Delivered annotated prototypes, interaction specs and research findings for Agoda's internal UI team to build against.
What changed
- A validated map interaction model taken into internal build
- Research library covering three traveller segments
- Clear rules for clustering, price pins and filter persistence
