Starfish EducationTeacher platform

Starfish aims to revolutionise the Thai education system by giving teachers an online platform for training, support and coaching. We led user research with serving teachers aged 25 to 55 and designed a platform their actual users — not their funders — could navigate.

The challenge

The audience spanned digitally fluent young teachers and colleagues who had never completed an online course. A single generic LMS would have lost half of them on day one.

What we did

The approach

01

Field research

Ran sessions with serving teachers across age bands and school types to see what confidence and device access actually looked like.

02

Low-floor design

Large targets, plain Thai copy, linear course paths and mobile-first layouts so low-confidence users could finish a module unaided.

03

Coaching layer

Designed support and coaching touchpoints into the learning flow rather than bolting on a help centre.

Outcome

What changed

  • Platform designed against real teacher research, not funder assumptions
  • Course flows completable by low-confidence users on mobile
  • Coaching and support built into the learning journey
